Cycle Monkey Attends the North American Handmade Bicycle Show

A week after the Seattle Bike Expo, some of the Cycle Monkey team headed east to Charlotte, North Carolina for the ever-impressive North American Handmade Bicycle Show, also known as NAHBS. The show is a chance for small and mid-size framebuilders to showcase their artistry and craft to consumers and fellow bike builders. The show is full of the most exciting customized bikes you’ll ever see, where no cost is spared in producing beautiful and functional works of art. Cycle Monkey has been exhibiting at the show for the last five years, and this year we were excited to have a larger booth space to showcase some of our most popular builds from the Monkey Lab.

NAHBS 2014 Denver

We're back from two weeks on the road getting to and from Denver for the North American Handmade Bicycle Show. The show went well, and it was good to meet everyone who stopped by the booth. The video above gives a virtual tour of our booth. The show had more vendors this year than ever but not quite as many attendees, due in part to a snow storm on Sunday. We had our usual display of Rohloff and Schlumpf cutaway models along with two belt drive-equipped Rohloff bikes on trainers to test - a Co-Motion Divide and an Independent Fabrication Steel Delux (which was also outfitted with a Schlumpf Speed Drive for the show). We also had a sampling of custom wheels and our new high-tech P&K Lie truing stand.

NAHBS 2012 Sacramento

Cycle Monkey had a busy three days in Sacramento during the 2012 edition of NAHBS. This year's show was the biggest to date with over 8100 attendees and 171 exhibitors. Friday was busy, Saturday was very busy, and Sunday was steady. There were many beautiful bikes on display, though we didn't get to see the whole show because it was difficult to get away from the booth. The Schlumpf and Rohloff cutaway models that we had on display attracted a steady crowd of onlookers, and the two bikes we had mounted on trainers offered visitors a chance to try out the Rohloff SPEEDHUB 500/14, Schlumpf Speed Drive, and Gates Carbon belt drive system.
